What Do I Tell My Daughters?
I can’t imagine a situation where, at this point in time, you are unaware of the leak of a draft of the majority decision regarding roe v wade and that in this draft abortion is no longer federally protected and becomes an issue for which the states must decide.
Since the leak, as one would expect, the advocates for baby murder have been furiously spilling their vitriol… I’m sorry, I meant to say “arguments” into the public square. There have been many gems such as this one:
or this thread:

I hope you read the entire thread. It’s just sad. Oddly, enough, neither of these have inspired me to write this article. Frankly, these people are sick and it’s plain why these arguments are repugnant and pathetic. I’ve been inspired by a simpler seemingly more reasonable argument that never seems to get fully addressed which only adds to its insidious nature.
On an episode of “The Five” on Fox News, Greg Gutfeld got into a heated exchange with Geraldo Rivera. Ultimately, this exchange led to Rivera exclaiming,
“What am I going to tell my daughters now? That they don’t have control over their body? That they can’t make those choices for themselves?”
The show then played a series of clips and no one ever addressed that argument posed as a question. Gutfeld went on to do a fine job with another line of argumentation, but they never came back. This is a common refrain from the left but more often than not it is glossed over by opponents.
I don’t know why it’s ignored so often. Perhaps, because the person arguing makes it personal as Rivera did. “What am I going to tell my daughters now?” This is a somewhat clever tactic as it uses his family as a shield protecting his argument from critique. Are you going to be the jerk who disparages his family? Who denies his daughters? What do you have against them?
After setting up his shield, he tries to strengthen it by saying they no longer have control over their bodies and that they “can’t make those choices for themselves.” This is the framing around which the pro baby murder advocate always tries to pin their opponents. This isn’t news. They call themselves pro-choice for a reason. They are trying to control the battlefield before the fight ever begins. Sun Tzu would be proud.
Fortunately, it all falls apart under light scrutiny. A simple question. What happened to the control over their bodies when performing the act that makes babies. Who was making that choice? Now, I realize that for some, the choice was made for them by some monster that preyed upon and destroyed a very sacred part of them by raping them. That is a different story and a different argument which basically amounts to despite the horrific situation, murdering an innocent child is equally horrific and is going to do nothing to restore what was taken. That being said, Rivera’s questions were not in regards to a rape situation so what of my questions? Who was it?
The answer is that Rivera and those like him are more concerned with the consequences of the effect than the consequences of the cause. (i.e. the effect) The truth is that they had control and were making their own choices the entire time but only got upset when the consequences to those choices reared its innocent head. And if you dare even think that someone should take responsibility for their actions does one hear an uproar.
This is the truth of the matter, they would rather kill their own babies than be responsible for the choices they made. Free sex is more important than children’s lives. And they take it another step. They claim we are taking a choice away from them. We aren’t. The choice to commit murder or not remains, only now they might be held responsible for it.
